Position Overview:

The Grocery Product Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing the ordering, replenishment, and merchandising of grocery items. This role plays a crucial part in the Whole Foods Market (WFM) program for purchasing and promotional activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete training for the Order Writer role.
  • Utilize effective buying procedures to replenish grocery items.
  • Manage orders for both perishable and non-perishable grocery products while maintaining optimal back stock levels.
  • Review and act on open purchase order reports promptly and accurately.
  • Control product spoilage and shrinkage; participate in inventory counts.
  • Conduct spoilage assessments and complete necessary inventory management documentation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate product orders to optimize inventory turnover.
  • Oversee the special order process for customers.
  • Analyze product transfers, waste, and spoilage metrics.
  • Assist leadership in conducting inventory assessments.
  • Achieve financial goals by meeting purchasing and sales targets.
  • Arrive at the work station punctually, well-groomed, and ready to perform assigned duties.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and address customer needs effectively.
  • Maximize sales potential through proper product preparation, storage, and merchandising techniques.
  • Adhere to established procedures, including health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment and ensure equipment meets cleanliness standards.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy in pricing and signage.
  • Report safety hazards and violations immediately.
  • Execute additional tasks as directed by store or regional leadership.
Required Skills:

Experience:
  • Minimum of 12 months in a retail environment.

  • Perform tasks requiring bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Capable of using tools and equipment safely.
