Substance Use Clinician

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Substance Use Clinician to join our Mental Health and Substance Use Services team. As a key member of our team, you will provide comprehensive care to individuals and families affected by mental illness and substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Initial Screening and Assessment: Perform initial screenings of referrals to determine appropriate treatment based on client needs and best practices.
- Client Assessment and Case Management: Assess client needs, gather information, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Treatment and Support: Provide first-level intervention and support, including short-term brief interventions, follow-up, and monitoring of treatment outcomes.
- Case Consultation and Follow-up: Provide comprehensive case consultation and follow-up support on treatment decisions in collaboration with other team members.
- Community Resource Facilitation: Facilitate client utilization of community services and rehabilitative programs, including residential programs, family therapy, and vocational programs.
- Education and Counseling: Provide education to clients and families on mental health and substance use issues, recovery processes, and relapse prevention strategies.
- Record Keeping and Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including assessments, charting, and progress notes.
- Education: Master's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program, such as Counselling Psychology or Social Work.
- Experience: Two years' recent related experience working with clients and families with mental illness and substance use disorders.
- Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented approaches; comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and professional practice guidelines; ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations; and proficiency in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
