Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the formulation of strategic plans and business initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Assist in identifying business needs or challenges, proposing viable solutions, and refining the claims adjudication workflow.
  • Ensure timely interpretation and communication of legislative changes and relevant jurisprudence to stakeholders.
  • Continuously monitor market trends and competitor strategies, assessing client needs and our responsiveness to evolving conditions.
  • Conduct thorough analyses to report on the impacts of selected solutions on customers, stakeholders, and operational processes.
  • Support the creation of project plans for solution implementation, considering various constraints and strategic drivers.
  • Assist in developing business cases and managing vendor requests for information/proposals as necessary.
  • Utilize analytical problem-solving skills to develop effective solutions, breaking down complex issues into manageable components.
  • Adhere to established methodologies, including Agile practices and Human-Centered Design, while applying Six Sigma principles for process improvement.
  • Initiate and implement strategies to enhance claims operations from a technical standpoint, focusing on Total Cost Management and Operational Risk Management.
  • Clarify work packages for assigned initiatives, maintaining a focus on customer-centric outcomes within project constraints.
  • Take ownership of Technical Manager responsibilities, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure operational readiness.
  • Communicate progress on initiatives effectively, managing requirements and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Identify and address issues related to risk, compliance, and regulatory policies, leading necessary assessments as required.
  • Design and implement internal policies and procedures to manage indemnity and expense leakage effectively.
  • Develop training materials and facilitate training sessions for claims operations on a national scale.
  • Collaborate with the business to document and prioritize detailed requirements, aiming for accuracy in initial submissions.
  • Foster a positive work environment by sharing knowledge and best practices, while supporting team capacity when available.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial claims.
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial claims policies, procedures, and practices; experience in personal lines is a plus.
  • Background in insurance business management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including negotiation and presentation abilities.
  • Robust organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Recognized as a high-potential leader focused on achieving results.
  • Ability to advocate for the customer perspective in all initiatives.
  • Experience in developing business cases and delivering measurable financial outcomes.
  • Proficient in change management principles, leading through influence and support.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with a focus on strategic partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and train staff across all organizational levels.
  • Post-secondary education and/or relevant diploma.
  • CIP/FCIP designation is an asset.
  • Familiarity with TDI claims management practices and company policies is beneficial.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French is an asset.
