Position: Software Engineer in Test (Contract Role)

Location: Waterloo, ON

We are seeking a motivated Junior Quality Engineer to help maintain and enhance our capabilities while ensuring a positive experience for our dedicated user base.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and the ability to inspire and motivate team members.

  • Proficient in working with geographically dispersed and culturally diverse teams.
  • Driven by curiosity, you seek to understand the systems you support and are unafraid to ask questions.
  • Possess relevant technology product knowledge and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in Agile Scrum practices to support quality engineering efforts in the payments sector.
  • Collaborate with Senior Quality Engineers and developers to create comprehensive test plans for new features.
  • Develop automated test cases to execute the established test plans.
  • Work with globally distributed teams to ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality software products that satisfy Sony customers.
  • Lead the development and upkeep of regression and smoke test suites.
  • Act as a quality gatekeeper and provide release approvals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a test engineer.
  • Extensive hands-on technical expertise, particularly with Java.
  • Experience in all facets of software testing, including test planning, automation, load testing, and failure mode testing.
  • Familiarity with testing RESTful web services and web applications.
  • Experience with build automation and continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins).
  • Knowledge of test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber).
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL and database schema design.
  • Ability to analyze logs using tools like Splunk.
  • Capable of estimating effort and sizing features.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with source control systems (especially Git) and bug tracking tools in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Selenium.
  • Knowledge of eCommerce platforms.
  • Background as a Software Developer.
