Position Overview: Quality Assurance Engineer in Test (Contract Position)
Location: Waterloo, ON
We are seeking a Junior Quality Engineer dedicated to ensuring the seamless growth of our capabilities while maintaining a positive experience for our enthusiastic user community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in an Agile Scrum environment to support quality engineering initiatives within the payments sector.
- Partner with Senior Quality Engineers and developers to create comprehensive test plans for new features.
- Develop automated test cases to execute established test plans.
- Engage with globally distributed teams to facilitate early involvement and ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality software products that satisfy Sony customers.
- Oversee the development and upkeep of regression and smoke test suites.
- Act as a quality checkpoint and provide release approvals.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a testing engineering role.
- Proficient technical skills, particularly in Java.
- Comprehensive knowledge of software testing, including test planning, automation, load testing, and failure mode testing.
- Experience in testing RESTful web services and web applications.
- Familiarity with build automation and continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins).
- Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber).
- Understanding of SQL/NoSQL and database schema design.
- Experience in log analysis using tools like Splunk or similar.
- Ability to estimate effort and scope of features.
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Proficient in using source control systems (especially Git) and bug tracking tools in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Selenium.
- Background as a Software Developer.
