Job Summary:

The School Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the academic unit's operations, providing administrative expertise, and ensuring the effective management of the unit's resources. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate academic, staff, and budgetary matters to support the unit's operational needs and goals.
  • Supervise support staff, providing direction and oversight on administrative matters and ensuring compliance with University and unit policies.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the unit's website and social media presence to enhance the unit's external image and support recruitment efforts.
  • Maintain confidential files and ensure compliance with Records Management policies and procedures.
  • Act in an advisory capacity to the Director on University regulations and procedures, ensuring sound financial administration of the School's operating budgets and research accounts.
Qualifications:
  • Strong administrative management skills, with a clear understanding of administrative and office procedures, financial management, supervision, and computer programs used in an academic administrative office.
  • Highly energetic and dynamic individual with excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
  • Good understanding of the School's and University's general rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure, communicate effectively, establish priorities, and recognize the need for change.
  • Conflict resolution skills, tact, and diplomacy, with the ability to act with discretion in matters of confidentiality.
Education and Experience:
  • University degree.
  • Seven years of relevant experience in a post-secondary setting, including experience on both the operational and academic sides of a school, in roles of increasing knowledge and responsibility.
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity and relevant experience with financial analysis and accounting procedures.
