Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Research-Advanced Manufacturing to join our team at Georgian College. As a key member of our Research and Innovation department, you will play a critical role in driving the development of real-world solutions for industry partners through applied research and knowledge transfer projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intellectual direction and oversight for research projects, ensuring alignment with industry partner goals and objectives.
  • Utilize technical expertise in design and manufacturing to develop concepts, design, manufacture, integrate, and test prototyped solutions.
  • Contribute deep subject matter and technical expertise to applied research projects, providing practical and industrial solutions.
  • Collaborate with college faculty, staff, and industry partners to execute applied research projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Lead interdisciplinary research activities, managing the integration of different activities into cohesive deliverables.
  • Support funding and project proposal development, ensuring successful grant applications and project execution.
  • Present project scopes, deliverables, and metrics to stakeholders, providing clear and concise communication.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to research teams, ensuring effective project management and delivery.
  • Prepare and implement dissemination activities, including assisting research assistants with report preparation and presentation.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng) required.
  • Certificates in AI, Machine Learning, and Data Analysis an asset.
  • Minimum nine years of experience in automation and mechatronics, with at least five years of experience executing and leading industry-led research projects.
  • Demonstrated experience using Solidworks, AutoCAD, and Industrial Programming platforms.
  • Proven research and development skills, project delivery abilities, and experience carrying out research projects from concept to commercialization.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate level computer skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
