Opportunity Overview:

We are actively seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Education Assistant to support our educational initiatives. This role involves assisting experienced staff in providing care and educational activities for children, particularly focusing on those from refugee and immigrant backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support senior staff in supervising children during various activities, including indoor and outdoor play as well as rest periods;
  • Collaborate with senior staff to facilitate engaging activities such as storytelling, singing, and group discussions;
  • Aid in the planning and execution of developmentally appropriate programs and activities;
  • Remain attentive and responsive to the needs of children at all times;
  • Promote a nurturing, safe, and positive learning atmosphere;
  • Ensure the safety and hygiene standards for all children;
  • Promptly report any instances of child neglect or abuse to the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12, with current enrollment in an Early Childhood Education Certificate program or relevant work experience;
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working with children in a group childcare environment;
  • Experience in multicultural or cross-cultural settings;
  • Ability to recognize developmental milestones and sensitivity to the needs of young children;
  • Strong communication skills with staff, children, and parents/caregivers;
  • Standard first aid and CPR training are advantageous.

A Criminal Record Check is a prerequisite for employment.
