Dredge Operator

CEDA is seeking a skilled Dredge Operator to join our team at our Fort McMurray, AB location at Kearl Lake.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining dredges, as well as performing a variety of tasks using basic construction skills and/or operating power equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating and maintaining dredges and other heavy equipment
- Cleaning, preparation, and maintenance of construction equipment or components
- Participating in daily tool box talk meetings, weekly safety meetings, and safety tours
- Required to operate and maintain deposition areas, plant facilities, tank farm location, screen tanks, and manage sump levels
- Required to manipulate valves, Rig In/Out diesel pumps, operation of dredges, and diesel/electric pumps, skid steer, etc.
- Perform other activities to assist with process and machine operators
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and housekeeping in immediate work areas
- May be required to assist with minor repairs and maintenance
- Ability to travel and flexibility in scheduling is required
Requirements include:
- Prior experience with pumps, centrifuge systems, or dredging and dewatering
- Valid Class 5 license with a clean abstract
- Valid certification (or combination of CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional or BSO)
- Valid Pleasure Craft operator card is desirable
- Marine Emergency Duties (A1 or A3) license is an asset
- Small Vessel Operator (SVOP) training is an asset
- Able to provide a negative pre-employment alcohol and drug test
- Able to work in confined space or at heights with the use of fall restraint equipment is an asset
- Comfortable with the use of additional respiratory equipment (N-95 Dust Mask / North Half mask)
Skills required include:
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Comfortable being on and around open bodies of water
- Comfortable working outdoors in harsh weather conditions
- Ability to prioritize and initiate innovative solutions
- Demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Uncompromising commitment to health and safety at all times
CEDA offers a competitive wages and excellent benefits package, including a 14x14 shift rotation, 12+ hours per day, and 12-month contract with the possibility for extension. Travel and camp are provided.
