Position Overview

As a Culinary Specialist 1, you will play a vital role in the food service team, ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals. This position is essential for maintaining the culinary standards of our establishment.



Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all patrons.
  • Prepare and cook menu items using various cooking methods including grilling, baking, and frying.
  • Handle made-to-order dishes with precision and care.
  • Assess production needs and adjust ingredient selections as necessary.
  • Receive and inspect incoming food products.
  • Adapt recipes to accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Prepare soups by selecting, processing, and cooking ingredients to achieve desired flavors.
  • Create thickening agents and binding components for various dishes.
  • Craft sauces to enhance meal offerings.
  • Process and cook a variety of meats, ensuring quality and safety.
  • Prepare finned fish with attention to detail.
  • Make both savory and sweet pastries, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace at all times.
  • Assist in culinary audits and monitor food temperatures across kitchen areas.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and health regulations, including safety and food handling standards.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior kitchen staff regarding culinary techniques and best practices.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.


Qualifications
  • Proficient in all tasks associated with Food Service Worker and Cook 2 roles.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in roles such as prep cook, grill cook, or line cook.
  • Previous leadership experience is advantageous.
  • Progress towards Red Seal certification is a plus.
  • Possession of WHMIS, Food Safe Advanced Certification, and First Aid Certification is beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to lift and maneuver a minimum of 35 lbs.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
