Director of Construction Job Description

At TalentSphere Staffing Solutions, we are seeking an experienced Director of Construction to lead our construction team and oversee the development of our multifamily residential, high-rise, and woodframe projects in the Lower Mainland, BC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the construction of our development projects from pre-construction to completion, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and quality standards.
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for our project portfolio, aligning with our corporate strategic vision and key performance indicators.
  • Lead by example, promoting our company's core values and ensuring that our construction team members embody these values.
  • Collaborate with our development team to provide accurate budget, cost, and schedule updates throughout the life of our projects.
  • Represent our company during client meetings and presentations, showcasing our expertise and commitment to excellence.
  • Track project progress, ensuring effective management of approved budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Work closely with our construction team to create and maintain master project schedules and milestones.
  • Oversee the project management process, from approving project deliverables to initiating project reviews, ensuring risks are continuously assessed and mitigated.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce overall costs and improve trade/supplier performance, recognizing potential conflicts or issues and facilitating solutions.
  • Recruit, train, and manage our site management team to ensure business needs are met, providing mentorship and growth opportunities.
  • Manage performance expectations and conduct performance evaluations of direct reports, supporting the development of team members and contributing to succession planning.
  • Ensure our construction team prioritizes safety and reinforces our safety culture, advocating for safety at site, project, and portfolio levels.
  • Deploy our operations system and continuous improvement strategy, ensuring effective and consistent utilization of construction processes and technologies across our projects.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of senior project management experience in the construction industry.
  • College diploma or university degree in a related field, PMP certification an asset.
  • Sound understanding of contractual and financial functions on projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction, industry practices, estimating/budgeting, scheduling, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to lead and motivate construction teams, resolve project disputes, and present effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Project, technologically savvy, and able to learn new programs quickly.
Remuneration:
  • $220,000 - $250,000+ base pay.
  • Performance-based bonus programs.
