We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Engineering to lead our engineering organization at Lightspeed. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the success of our engineering teams and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Software Development Managers to ensure the successful delivery of engineering projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product and Design teams to develop and execute product roadmaps that meet business goals and customer needs.
- Develop and implement processes and tools to improve engineering efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, and Operations.
- Make strategic decisions to drive business growth and improve customer satisfaction.
- Develop and manage budgets and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
- Identify and mitigate risks to ensure project success.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure Lightspeed remains competitive.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge and understanding of software engineering principles, technologies, and best practices.
- Strong software development background with experience in multiple mainstream technology stacks.
- Expertise in software architecture and design of scalable, maintainable, and resilient systems.
- Experience with modern software delivery practices, including continuous delivery and lean practices.
- Operational excellence mindset with experience running and managing operations of business-critical systems.
- People management experience, including hiring, performance management, and growth.
- Experience leading other leaders in a software engineering organization.
- Experience owning technology or product for a clear line of business or a complete product.
- Experience working in product engineering and/or SaaS software delivery.
