The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Keethanow Group of Businesses is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of FINANCE ASSISTANTS . This role is integral to the financial operations and is based in the Central Office.
Role Overview:
The Finance Assistant will report directly to the Comptroller and will play a vital role in supporting the financial team. The primary responsibilities include managing and processing various financial accounts and transactions while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a representative of the Store Band Policies & Procedures, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Oversee the operations related to payments in the Accounts Receivable database.
- Ensure timely and accurate application of payments to relevant accounts.
- Prepare monthly reports on Accounts Receivable to support the Finance Officer.
- Address inquiries from employees, customers, and departments regarding their Billing Accounts.
- Manage purchase orders and invoicing records effectively.
- Demonstrate proficiency in database management to enter, modify, and correct payment information.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and email) proficiently.
- Possess a foundational understanding of the accounting cycle.
- Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to multitask efficiently.
- Provide training and guidance to employees regarding Accounts Receivable processes.
- Make informed decisions independently to assist employees and customers.
- Monitor and advise front-line staff on cashier regulations and procedures.
- Assist with Payroll functions as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Foster positive public relations on behalf of the Keethanow Group of Businesses.
- Adhere to the Personnel Policy Manual of the Keethanow Group of Businesses.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-year experience in a retail environment, with familiarity in cash handling and invoicing.
- A Business Office certificate or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Basic understanding of the accounting cycle is essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of Cree is an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Finance Officer & Manager to meet critical deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills, with a proactive approach to tasks.
- Proven leadership capabilities to guide and direct team members.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Punctual, trustworthy, and dependable.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management skills.
