Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist I is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for providing diagnostic, therapeutic, and educational respiratory health services to patients in various settings within Red Deer Regional Hospital. This role requires a strong foundation in respiratory therapy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients to develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to enhance clinical outcomes
  • Provide training and education to healthcare providers and patients on respiratory equipment and disease management
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands
Requirements
  • Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA)
  • Graduation from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist in good standing with CARTA
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) and NRP certification
  • Minimum one-year acute care experience in ICU, ED, NICU, or wards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACLS certification
  • Experience with computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Laboratory Specimen ordering
