Role Overview
As a Medical Imaging Appointment Coordinator, you will play a vital role in managing the scheduling and booking of appointments for both inpatient and outpatient services. Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and arranging appointments in alignment with established priority levels and the schedules of medical and technical staff. This involves receiving requests, confirming patient arrivals, and ensuring all pre-test instructions are communicated effectively.
- Organizing daycare accommodations for various procedures, including emergency appointments, by liaising with relevant staff and checking the availability of resources.
- Pre-registering patients by gathering necessary information and entering it into the computerized patient database, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Locating and processing patient information, including images and consultation histories, by communicating with various healthcare providers and facilities.
- Inputting booking and imaging information into the appropriate systems, verifying the accuracy of data entered, and making corrections as needed.
- Registering patients by collecting essential information and completing necessary documentation in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintaining organized records for all bookings, ensuring requisitions are filed correctly and efficiently.
- Providing updates on patient waitlists and scheduling metrics to supervisors for reporting and operational purposes.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of Grade 12 education, with two years of recent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
- Proficiency in keyboarding at a speed of 40 words per minute.
- A solid understanding of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- The physical capability to perform the duties required by the position.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with operating related equipment.
- A commitment to fostering reconciliation and understanding of Indigenous Peoples' rights and issues.
