Job Title: Behavioural Support Specialist

Baycrest Hospital is seeking a Behavioural Support Specialist to join our Ambulatory Clinical Services team. This is a temporary full-time position for approximately 18 months.

Job Summary:

The Behavioural Support Specialist will work closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop, build, and evaluate behavioural care plans and interventions for patients on the Behavioural Neurology unit (4W). The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in a relevant field and registration as a Behaviour Analyst with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides comprehensive clinical behavioural assessments and behaviour support services to the inpatient Behavioural Neurology unit and other behaviour support services/programs in the Hospital.
  • Provides training to staff and students related to behaviour support.
  • Collaborates with clients, care partners, and the client's circle of care to develop and disseminate individualized behaviour management interventions and care plans.
  • Participates in data collection and reporting on a number of accountability measures.
  • Attends and contributes to team meetings, patient rounds, and educational series.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Registration as a Behaviour Analyst with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.
  • Minimum three (3) years demonstrated expertise and knowledge working with individuals with various neurodegenerative diseases including dementia, and those with acute behavioural changes and associated responsive behaviours.
  • Experience/familiarity with behavioural, cognitive, psychosocial, and environmental assessments relating to responsive behaviours.
  • Training and experience in applied behaviour analysis and behavioural support management approaches.
