EXPERIENCE: Prior experience as an Aerial Lineman is advantageous. It is essential to prioritize safety in all operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with Hydro and various Telecom providers for the establishment of Fiber Optic Systems.
  • Verify that all materials necessary for the construction of aerial infrastructure for each assignment are loaded onto the vehicle.
  • Deliver a high standard of productivity and assist the line foreman in ensuring quality service.
  • Access designated locations to secure lines using lashers and auxiliary equipment, utilizing bucket trucks, climbing poles with spurs or ladders, or entering trenches and confined spaces.
  • Install aerial or underground fiber optic or coaxial cables utilizing existing knowledge of required pole hardware.
  • Manually pull cables from large reels mounted on trucks; pull lines through ducts by hand or with winches.
  • Ensure all safety signage, cones, barriers, etc., are in proper condition and available on the truck.
  • Utilize time efficiently to foster good work habits consistently.
  • Review timesheets and documentation for accuracy and detail.
  • Conduct monthly vehicle inspections as directed by the AC Department Coordinator.
  • Maintain courteous and professional interactions with all customers, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
  • Exercise due diligence in preparing and completing all necessary documentation (surveys, timesheets, drawings, as-builts, tailboards) accurately and promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the departmental manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to carry and climb a twenty-eight-foot extension ladder weighing 80 pounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Commitment to safety practices.
  • Excellent listening and comprehension abilities.

  • Mandatory use of all required Personal Protective Equipment as dictated by job functions.
  • Active participation in all Health and Safety initiatives, including daily tailboard discussions with Aerial crews.
  • Possession of a valid Ontario driver's license and a satisfactory driving record as assessed by the Company.
  • Ability to set up and operate safely on high-traffic roads in accordance with Book 7 standards.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions, including day, night, or weekends, with potential overnight stays.
