The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Lab Technologist to join our team in the Overhead Conductors Lab. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and testing services for transmission line components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electrical type tests, R&D testing, investigations, and technical studies for customers in one or more disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, non-destructive evaluation, and material science.
  • Prepare samples for testing, set up and execute tests, and provide mechanical and electrical expertise for testing projects.
  • Conduct installation and/or repair of equipment, instrumentation, and test fixtures, and maintain the test labs and related facilities.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices in all aspects of the work performed.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems.

Requirements

  • Mechanical or Electrical Technician or Technologist diploma (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of related test laboratory experience or equivalent advanced education
  • Understanding of transmission line components and related tests is required
  • Experience testing and handling both traditional and HTLS conductors, including epoxy terminations, hardware installation is required
  • Experience using LabView and NI Instruments for data acquisition is required
  • Experience working under ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 quality programs is required
