About the Organization
The J.W. McConnell Foundation is a private Canadian foundation dedicated to fostering a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable society that can effectively tackle its multifaceted challenges.
Position Overview
The selected individual will become part of a vibrant team that champions diverse and innovative strategies aimed at enhancing community resilience, promoting reconciliation, and addressing climate change. Our efforts are realized through financial support, capacity enhancement, and collaboration across public, private, and non-profit sectors.
Work Environment: Flexible across Canada, with a preference for candidates residing in Canada.
Work Arrangement: Remote work; applicants must be Canadian residents.
Employment Type: Full-time, temporary (maternity leave replacement) - 12 months with potential for extension.

Role Summary
The Program Officer for Reconciliation plays a vital role in advancing the objectives of the reconciliation sphere of interest by executing strategies and engaging with communities in various initiatives. This position is crucial for reviewing contribution requests, monitoring progress, collaborating with reconciliation partners, and providing comprehensive administrative support.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Support: Assist the Program Director in strategizing, communicating, and implementing the Foundation's reconciliation objectives and commitments.
- Administrative Coordination: Provide full administrative support for the contribution process within the Reconciliation Sphere of Interest, including the receipt, review, and follow-up of contribution requests.
- Collaboration and Representation: Engage with community partners authentically, representing the Foundation's values and commitments to reconciliation, while exploring new opportunities to advance reconciliation efforts across Canada.
Qualifications
- Functional bilingualism with strong oral and written communication skills in English or French.
- Experience and understanding of non-profit organizations and initiatives that serve communities.
- Three to four years of experience in program administration and support.
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
- Commitment to Indigenous frameworks and practices.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
