About the PHSA Transformation Leadership Office – Pioneering Change, Enriching Lives.

The Transformation Leadership Office is committed to the continuous advancement and enhancement of healthcare and business services, ensuring that PHSA remains a leader in innovation and quality. We collaborate across PHSA and provincially on some of the most intricate and impactful challenges. Our mission is to support leaders and teams in designing the healthcare system of the future and to work alongside them to deliver the necessary changes. Recent initiatives have included:

  • Facilitating the implementation of BC Cancer's 10-Year Action Plan aimed at reducing cancer incidence and enhancing survival rates and quality of life.
  • Assisting PHSA in evaluating current care models for individuals with substance use needs and identifying opportunities for improved patient outcomes.
  • Collaborating with government partners to enhance access to Emergency Department services in smaller communities.
  • Supporting the development of systematic and collaborative approaches to service planning throughout British Columbia.
  • Aiding the organization in addressing individual and systemic Indigenous-specific racism by operationalizing anti-Indigenous racism training for all staff and refining the complaints process while enhancing our organizational learning from patient experiences.

Our team consists of strategists, design thinkers, change specialists, and project management professionals. We seek individuals who are passionate about making a difference in healthcare and possess the skills and confidence to think creatively. The role of Healthcare Project Coordinator is vital in supporting the delivery of transformational initiatives and ensuring a meaningful impact for PHSA's patients. The Coordinator, in collaboration with executive leaders, will oversee complex projects and guarantee successful execution. We are looking for candidates with project management experience in healthcare, adaptability to various topics, comfort in dynamic environments, and the ability to apply critical thinking in complex scenarios. This role does not involve direct reports but is expected to mentor and support junior team members while contributing to the evolution of our transformation practices.

In alignment with PHSA's Mission, Vision, and Values, safety—encompassing both patient and employee safety—is a priority and a shared responsibility among all PHSA's Agencies/Divisions/Services. Consequently, the commitment to continuous quality and safety improvement is inherent in all aspects of this position. The Healthcare Project Coordinator leads and coordinates all facets of current projects undertaken by the department, ensuring that deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget as outlined in the project plan. The Coordinator identifies and tracks metrics related to project deliverables and provides consultation, guidance, and support to designated project staff, contractors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

As a Healthcare Project Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in leading and executing transformational projects that shape the future of healthcare. You will collaborate closely with executive leaders, identify and engage with partners across the organization, and drive the execution of complex initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact, providing exposure to senior leaders and avenues for professional growth.

  • Develop comprehensive project charters, plans, and objectives to outline timelines and deliverables.
  • Implement project plans using established methodologies, ensuring coordinated completion of components.
  • Monitor progress, assess risks, and report on project status and challenges.
  • Formulate and oversee project budgets, ensuring adherence to best practices and resource constraints.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages growth and contribution.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration, or a relevant healthcare discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of recent, related experience in project management, including facilitating and managing consultation processes with diverse stakeholder groups. Related experience may encompass change management, strategy development, and transformation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Proven experience in budget oversight and project plan execution.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment.
  • Proactive and strategic thinkers who are self-motivated, organized, and capable of taking initiative.
  • Proficient in analyzing problems, translating complex issues, and navigating ambiguity.
  • Effective communicators with strong presentation skills, experience working with senior leaders, and excellent facilitation abilities.
  • Experienced professionals with a background in service-oriented industries, healthcare, public sector, government, and corporate transformation; a PMP or similar certification is desirable.
  • Capable of engaging and collaborating with diverse stakeholders and leading teams through innovative solutions.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism, and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments.

Why Join Us?
