Sessional Assistant for Robotics and Automation

Position Overview: The University of Toronto is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Sessional Instructional Assistant in the field of Robotics and Automated Systems. This position involves supporting the educational experience of students enrolled in a specialized course.
Course Details: The course, focusing on the fundamentals of robotics, covers essential topics such as automated system components, sensor management, and principles of robot localization. Students will engage in hands-on projects utilizing a Lego robotic platform to reinforce their learning.
Enrollment and Positions: The estimated enrollment for this course is 40 students, with 2 positions available for Sessional Instructional Assistants, allowing for up to 77 hours of work per appointment.
Candidate Qualifications: Ideal candidates will possess a strong familiarity with course content, including microprocessor architecture, control systems, and real-time operating systems. Previous experience in conducting tutorials and managing team projects is highly desirable. Candidates who have participated in mentoring sessions or relevant training programs will be given preference. Interviews may be conducted to assess qualifications.
Responsibilities: Selected candidates will be responsible for facilitating tutorials and lab sessions, conducting progress assessments, and evaluating student performance. Duties will also include collaborative marking of coursework and tests with the course instructor. Availability may be required for up to three days per week to accommodate project evaluations and team interviews.
Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $52.26.
