Senior Mechatronics Engineer (Electronics) - Grocery Pick Hardware

As a key member of the Ocado Logistics team, you will play a critical role in designing and developing advanced robotic systems for our customers. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Software, AI, and Product, to design and implement complex robotic systems.

You will be responsible for owning critical aspects of new projects, including end-of-arm tooling and robotic system design. You will work closely with our Robotics Software and Platform Teams to ensure seamless integration of your designs into our larger system architecture.

What you will bring:

  • Ability to rapidly iterate and demonstrate new concepts through prototyping
  • Experience in identifying and characterizing key sensor attributes and selecting suitable integration hardware
  • Experience in selecting and integrating motors and motor controllers
  • Experience with board-level hardware interfaces and fieldbus technologies
  • Ability to design, manufacture, and debug multilayer PCBs using a major EDA package
  • Practical experience in designing systems for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliance
  • Ability to design, justify, and communicate the electrical architecture of our products through systematic evaluations of components and technologies

Bonus Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as an engineer in a related industry
  • Track record of full product lifecycle ownership, from ideation to mass production
  • Applicable skills in at least one of the following areas: end effector design, industrial automation, robotic work cells
  • Experience with analog electrical equipment and machine safety standards
