Position Overview

We are seeking an Embedded Test Analyst to enhance our team of testers responsible for the software and hardware of our award-winning security solutions, ensuring they align with market demands. You will engage in an agile environment, crafting comprehensive test cases, analyzing and documenting discrepancies to facilitate prioritization and resolutions, and conducting security and performance assessments as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the evolution of our next-generation security solutions by participating in all phases of the software product lifecycle.
  • Review project documentation to design, develop, and execute test cases effectively.
  • Analyze and document discrepancies in the testing process.
  • Create automated test scripts using languages such as Ruby or Python.
  • Conduct manual testing on various hardware products within the Gallagher Security Devices Value stream.
  • Adhere to the software development methodologies in use.
  • Follow current best practices and processes for testing.
  • Support the deployment of software into production environments.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in both manual and automated testing for embedded and software applications.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, including IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DNS, BootP, and NAT.
  • Proficient in Linux fundamentals with practical experience using basic Linux command-line tools.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMWare and Hyper-V.
  • Background as a Test Analyst in agile settings, particularly Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification with certifications such as Microsoft Certified Professional, Comptia A+, or ISTQB Foundation/Advanced Test Analyst Certification.
  • Strong coding skills, particularly in developing and executing automated scripts and utilizing automated testing tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation regarding processes or issues.

Preferred Skills

  • Basic soldering skills and hands-on experience with hardware devices, including oscilloscopes and power supplies.
  • Experience with containerized deployments using Docker.
  • Familiarity with the Git version control system.
