The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Embedded Test Analyst to join our team of testers looking after the software and hardware in our award-winning security products, ensuring they meet market requirements. You’ll be part of an agile team writing thorough test cases, analysing and documenting anomalies to assist in prioritisation and fixes, and performing security and performance testing as required.

As part of #TeamGallagher you will

  • Contribute to the development of our next-generation security products by actively engaging in all stages of the software product lifecycle.
  • Analyse project documentation to design, develop and execute test cases.
  • Analyse and document anomalies.
  • Write automated test scripts using Ruby, Python or similar.
  • Manually test various hardware products within the Gallagher Security Devices Value stream.
  • Work appropriately within the software development methodology being used.
  • Work within the current best practices and processes for testing.
  • Assist with the release of software into production.

To be considered for this role, you will have

  • 2-5 years of experience with both manual and automated testing with embedded and software applications.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, including IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DNS, BootP, and NAT.
  • Proficient in Linux fundamentals with hands-on experience using basic Linux command-line tools.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMWare and Hyper-V.
  • Experience working as a Test Analyst in agile environments, particularly Scrum and Kanban.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification with one (or more) of the following: Microsoft Certified Professional; Comptia A+; ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Test Analyst Certification.
  • Coding skills, particularly in writing and executing automated scripts and using automated tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to write clear and concise documents describing process or problems.

To be desirable for this role, you will have

  • Basic soldering skills and hands-on experience with hardware devices including oscilloscopes and power supplies.
  • Experience with containerized deployments using Docker.
  • Experience with Git version control system.
