Job Summary

The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly skilled Municipal Design Technician II to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for creating complex municipal designs and drafting projects using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D design software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and draft municipal projects, including roads, sidewalks, multi-use paths, and roundabouts
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of service locations for field crews and the public
  • Produce and file record drawings, ensuring compliance with municipal regulations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality designs and projects
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in municipal design and drafting
Requirements
  • Completion of secondary school or equivalent
  • Two-year Computer Aided Design and Drafting program or Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum three years' experience in municipal design using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D design software
  • Ability to acquire certification as a Civil Technologist (AScT) or Civil Technician (CTech) with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia within 12 months
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence

  • Experience working in a municipal or government setting
  • Knowledge of municipal design software and technologies
