Position Overview

Role Summary

The Product Engineer will report directly to the Product Engineering Manager and is expected to handle multiple projects from initial concept through to production and throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Create engineering drawings, schematics, and prototypes based on established product specifications.
  2. Evaluate existing product lines to identify enhancements in quality, functionality, aesthetic appeal, and cost efficiency.
  3. Assess the environmental and social implications of product design, manufacturing, and disposal.
  4. Conduct analysis and reverse-engineering of competitor products.
  5. Identify strengths and weaknesses of key products.
  6. Develop strategies to address product weaknesses.
  7. Test both physical and digital prototypes for functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
  8. Support the product development team in adhering to project timelines.
  9. Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards for all products.
  10. Research materials, components, and suppliers for durability, suitability, and cost-effectiveness.
  11. Compile detailed reports on product development at each stage of the process.
  12. Collaborate with sales and manufacturing teams to align product specifications with corporate objectives and competitive strategies.
  13. Address inquiries related to product development and functionality.
  14. Assist in creating comprehensive manufacturing instructions, schematic drawings, and training materials for product use.
  15. Oversee testing and analysis of materials.
  16. Stay informed about industry trends and product development methodologies.
  17. Support sales and marketing teams in understanding product functionalities and advantages.
  18. Adhere to product-related policies and procedures.
  19. Assist the product development team in managing development budgets.
  20. Monitor key product development cycles.
  21. Troubleshoot product issues to mitigate future concerns.
  22. Maintain accurate records of product development activities.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  3. Strong analytical skills.
  4. Mechanical aptitude.
  5. Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  6. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  7. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  8. Positive, proactive attitude.
  9. Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  10. Strong presentation skills.
  11. Experience with VA/VE and Product R&D activities.
  12. Commitment to excellent customer service.
