Position Overview

As a Flight Instructor at Vancouver Aviation College Inc, you will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of pilots. Your expertise will guide student aviators through the intricacies of flying, ensuring they are well-prepared for their careers in aviation.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a college, CEGEP, or equivalent non-university program lasting 1 to 2 years.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year and less than 2 years in a relevant field.
Work Environment
  • Engagement in commercial aviation.
  • Work outdoors and at heights.
  • Exposure to noisy environments.
  • Involvement in aircraft testing and instructing.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters.
  • Provide instruction to student pilots on flying techniques and ground-school subjects, including navigation and radio procedures.
  • Monitor engine and aircraft systems during flights.
  • Prepare licensed pilots for additional certifications.
  • Conduct in-flight assessments and ensure aircraft systems function correctly.
  • Perform pre-flight inspections and verify passenger and cargo weight and balance.
  • Communicate with control towers for takeoff and arrival instructions.
  • Maintain contact with flight dispatchers and weather services, addressing in-flight emergencies.
  • Compile flight evaluation reports.
Supervisory Role

Supervise a team ranging from 16 to over 20 individuals.

Certifications Required
  • Commercial Pilot Licence - fixed wing.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Transport Canada flight instructor rating.
  • Private and Commercial Pilot Licence - ultra-light airplane.
Security and Safety Requirements
  • Basic security clearance.
  • Enhanced reliability security clearance.
  • Criminal record check.
Physical and Work Conditions
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Physically demanding tasks.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • 20/20 vision required.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination.
  • Capability to distinguish between colors.
Work Schedule

This position typically requires a commitment of 35 hours per week.
