Position Overview

As a Certified Flight Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of aviators. Your expertise will guide student pilots through the complexities of aviation, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their flying careers.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a college or CEGEP program, or a non-university certificate or diploma lasting 1 to 2 years.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year and less than 2 years of relevant experience.
Work Environment
  • Engagement in the field of commercial aviation.
  • Work conducted outdoors and at elevated heights.
  • Exposure to noisy environments and aircraft testing scenarios.
  • Involvement in instructing and training activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters.
  • Provide instruction to student pilots on flying procedures, techniques, and ground-school subjects, including navigation and aviation regulations.
  • Oversee engine and aircraft systems during flight operations.
  • Prepare licensed pilots for additional certifications.
  • Conduct in-flight assessments and monitor aircraft systems and equipment.
  • Perform pre-flight inspections to ensure compliance with weight and balance specifications.
  • Communicate with control towers for takeoff clearances and arrival instructions.
  • Maintain contact with flight dispatchers and weather services, responding to in-flight emergencies as necessary.
  • Compile and submit flight evaluation reports.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Oversee a team of 16-20 individuals or more.
Certifications Required
  • Commercial Pilot Licence - fixed wing.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Transport Canada flight instructor rating.
  • Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot Licence - ultra-light airplane.
Security and Safety Requirements
  • Basic security clearance.
  • Enhanced reliability security clearance.
  • Criminal record check.
Physical and Work Conditions
  • Ability to work under pressure and in physically demanding situations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must possess 20/20 vision and excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Capability to distinguish between colors.
  • Work Term: Permanent
