About the RoleVancouver Aviation College Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flight Instructor to join our team. As a Flight Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching student pilots the procedures and techniques of flying aircraft and ground-school subjects such as navigation, radio procedures, and flying regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Fly fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters to instruct student pilots in flight procedures and techniques.
- Monitor the operation of engine and aircraft systems during flight.
- Train licensed pilots for additional certification.
- Conduct in-flight tests and monitor the functioning of aircraft equipment and systems during flights.
- Conduct pre-flight inspections of aircraft and check passenger and cargo distribution to ensure that weight and balance specifications are met.
- Contact control towers for takeoff clearances, arrival instructions, and other information.
- Maintain communications with flight dispatchers and weather forecasters and respond to and report in-flight emergencies and malfunctions.
- Prepare flight evaluation reports.
- Commercial Pilot Licence - fixed wing.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Transport Canada flight instructor rating.
- Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot Licence - ultra-light airplane.
- Basic security clearance.
- Enhanced reliability security clearance.
- Criminal record check.
This is a permanent position with a 35-hour workweek. The work environment is commercial aviation, outdoors, at heights, noisy, and involves aircraft testing and instructing.
