About the Role

Vancouver Aviation College Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flight Instructor to join our team. As a Flight Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching student pilots the procedures and techniques of flying aircraft and ground-school subjects such as navigation, radio procedures, and flying regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fly fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters to instruct student pilots in flight procedures and techniques.
  • Monitor the operation of engine and aircraft systems during flight.
  • Train licensed pilots for additional certification.
  • Conduct in-flight tests and monitor the functioning of aircraft equipment and systems during flights.
  • Conduct pre-flight inspections of aircraft and check passenger and cargo distribution to ensure that weight and balance specifications are met.
  • Contact control towers for takeoff clearances, arrival instructions, and other information.
  • Maintain communications with flight dispatchers and weather forecasters and respond to and report in-flight emergencies and malfunctions.
  • Prepare flight evaluation reports.
Requirements
  • Commercial Pilot Licence - fixed wing.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Transport Canada flight instructor rating.
  • Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot Licence - ultra-light airplane.
  • Basic security clearance.
  • Enhanced reliability security clearance.
  • Criminal record check.
Work Environment

This is a permanent position with a 35-hour workweek. The work environment is commercial aviation, outdoors, at heights, noisy, and involves aircraft testing and instructing.
