Position Overview

As an Aviation Flight Instructor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of pilots. Your expertise will guide student pilots through the intricacies of flying, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the aviation industry.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a college, CEGEP, or a non-university program lasting 1 to 2 years.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year and less than 2 years in a related field.
Work Environment
  • Engagement in commercial aviation.
  • Outdoor work conditions.
  • Operations at elevated heights.
  • Exposure to noisy environments.
  • Involvement in aircraft testing and instructing.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate fixed-wing aircraft or helicopters.
  • Provide instruction to student pilots on flying techniques and ground-school subjects, including navigation and regulations.
  • Monitor engine performance and aircraft systems during flights.
  • Prepare licensed pilots for additional certifications.
  • Conduct in-flight assessments and ensure the functionality of aircraft systems.
  • Perform pre-flight inspections and verify weight and balance compliance.
  • Communicate with control towers for takeoff and arrival clearances.
  • Maintain contact with flight dispatchers and weather services, addressing in-flight emergencies.
  • Compile flight evaluation reports.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Oversee a team of 16-20 individuals.
  • Manage groups exceeding 20 personnel.
Certifications Required
  • Commercial Pilot Licence - fixed wing.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Transport Canada flight instructor rating.
  • Private and Commercial Pilot Licence - ultra-light airplane.
Security and Safety Requirements
  • Basic security clearance.
  • Enhanced reliability security clearance.
  • Criminal record verification.
Work Conditions

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • 20/20 vision required.
