About the Role

Mama's Grocery is seeking a skilled Produce Buyer to join our team. As a key member of our purchasing department, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing high-quality produce for our stores.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market Research: Conduct thorough market research to stay up-to-date on the latest trends and prices in the produce industry.
  • Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of produce.
  • Inventory Management: Work closely with our inventory team to ensure that we have the right quantities of produce in stock at all times.
  • Price Negotiation: Negotiate prices with suppliers to ensure that we are getting the best possible deals.
  • Quality Control: Inspect produce to ensure that it meets our high standards of quality.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to management on produce sales, inventory levels, and supplier performance.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field such as business, supply chain management, or agriculture.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.
Working Conditions
  • Work Setting: Wholesale establishment/store.
  • Supervision: 3-4 people.
  • Computer and Technology Knowledge: Spreadsheet, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
