Company Overview
This organization is involved in the exploration, extraction, transportation, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas. It operates through various segments: Upstream, Downstream, and Corporate. The Upstream segment encompasses exploration, field development, and production of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The Downstream segment is dedicated to refining, logistics, power generation, and the marketing of crude oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products, along with related services for both international and domestic clients. The Corporate segment provides essential support services, including human resources, finance, and information technology.
Position Summary
We are looking for a Senior Operations Engineer to join the Chemicals Division of the Business & Project Development Department. The successful candidate will focus on optimizing the integration of refinery and chemical processes, selecting appropriate steam cracker and C4+ co-products process licensors while ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards. This role will be pivotal in developing project assessments and fulfilling project requirements, particularly in relation to a refinery residue upgrade integrated with a petrochemical steam cracker complex.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate a variety of technological options to establish the Baseline Configuration.
- Determine the necessary level of detail and identify sources for technology input for Long-Range Planning (LP), operating expenses (opex), and significant considerations for facility scope.
- Develop the Process Technology Roadmap and set a timeline for engagement with technology licensors/providers.
- Outline Pre-FEED/FEED (Front End Engineering Design) plans and deliverables concerning facility design basis.
- Lead the evaluation of technology options and supervise the screening process.
- Review details and inputs for technology options and outputs from the LP model, including process yields, qualities, and opex.
- Provide technical insights on selected technologies and sensitivity analyses.
- Identify potential opportunities for third-party collaboration.
- Engage with third-party vendors/suppliers to gather necessary information.
- Support the Government Engagement workstream and GHG (Greenhouse Gas) Abatement Readiness workstream by creating technical documents, assessing technology, and evaluating capital efficiency, among other responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Over 10 years of experience in managing refinery-chemical integration.
- Practical experience in refinery operations.
- Expertise in selecting process licensors and evaluating technologies for steam cracker and C4+ co-products processes.
- Strong understanding of chemical process yields, qualities, and operating expenses (opex).
- Familiarity with economic principles and capital efficiency in the context of chemical processes.
- Experience in establishing the basis for chemical facility scope.
- Involvement in capital project development within the refinery or chemicals sector, particularly during Pre-FEED/FEED stages.
- Knowledge of molecule optimization and the integration of synergies in processes.
