We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced helicopter pilot to join our team at MHM Publishing Inc. As a key member of our aerial services team, you will be responsible for conducting pilot-in-command flight operations and related duties on VFR-equipped single-engine helicopters.
Key Responsibilities- Perform pilot-in-command flight operations and related duties as required by Hydro One Networks Inc.
- Act as pilot in command as directed by the operations manager or delegate, ensuring the safe operation and safety of the helicopter, and for the safety and security of all persons involved during flight operations.
- Have final authority to conduct or cancel scheduled flight operations, ensuring compliance with aircraft flight manual and all applicable orders, standard operation procedures, Transport Canada regulations, Hydro One policies, and directives.
- Provide liaison with internal Hydro One lines of business in determining the flight operation of the helicopter to deliver the necessary expertise for helicopter related work.
- Take required training courses as directed by the chief pilot, and Transport Canada policies (i.e. recurrent training on helicopter types and configurations AS350 B3, H125).
- Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making ability, providing safety briefings and instruction on aircraft safety/survival equipment location and techniques of use in the event of emergency.
- Conduct thorough pre-job planning, tailboard meetings, and pre-flight inspections to ensure serviceability and preform pre-flight duties such as documentation, weight and balance calculations, and flight planning as required.
- Oversee safe configuration of aircraft, including external sling loads, and adherence to all up weight load limit specifications and proper loading and securement of cargo, including use of basket.
- Maintain high standard of aircraft serviceability and cleanliness, recording defects and assisting air engineers in defect rectification, carrying out ground run-ups and flight tests of repaired and post maintenance aircraft as required.
- Conduct administrative tasks at obligatory intervals, such as recording flight duty times, aircraft document revision control, and expense and time sheet management.
- Participate in company safety management system by regularly reporting hazard and incidents when encountered and aiding in the corrective action follow up process.
- Valid Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate
- Fully vaccinated against Covid-19
- Valid Commercial (or higher) Canadian pilot license with minimum of 3,000 flight hours
- Minimum of 1,500 hours combined experience on AS355 and AS350BA, B2, B3, B3e aircraft
- Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Licence
- Valid passport or ability to acquire, with no restrictions for cross border travel
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods Training an asset
- Recent Flying in the Wires Training an asset
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian Air Regulations with significant experience flying in Canadian remote as well as high density airspace.
- Extensive precision vertical reference external load experience required.
- Experience conducting power line patrols, and knowledge of electrical distribution and transmission power maintenance and construction.
- Solid aviation knowledge base including weather reporting, GPS and electronic mapping navigational techniques, weather minima, and aircraft radio communication.
- Comfortable working with modern electronic systems and document control.
- Must possess and demonstrate well-developed communication, public relations, and documentation writing skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and decisiveness in stressful and emergency situations.
- Must be able to work independently without constant supervision.

- Based at the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport (CYLS) with assignments throughout Ontario.
- Based on Level 1 Pilot salary of $155,000 per year paid bi-weekly plus benefits.
