Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pilot to join our team at MHM Publishing Inc. As a Pilot, you will be responsible for performing pilot-in-command flight duties on VFR-equipped single-engine helicopters, ensuring the safe operation of the aircraft and the well-being of all personnel involved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as pilot in command, responsible for the operation and safety of the helicopter, and for the safety and security of all persons involved during flight operations.
  • Have final authority to conduct or cancel scheduled flight operations, ensuring compliance with aircraft flight manual, Transport Canada regulations, and Hydro One policies.
  • Provide liaison with internal Hydro One lines of business to determine flight operations and deliver expertise for helicopter-related work.
  • Take required training courses, including recurrent training on helicopter types and configurations AS350 B3, H125.
  • Conduct pre-flight inspections, confirm serviceability, and perform pre-flight duties such as documentation, weight and balance calculations, and flight planning.
  • Oversee safe configuration of aircraft, maintain high standards of aircraft serviceability and cleanliness, and record defects.
  • Participate in company safety management system, regularly reporting hazards and incidents, and aiding in corrective action follow-up.
Qualifications and Licensing
  • Valid Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate
  • Fully vaccinated against Covid-19
  • Valid Commercial (or higher) Canadian pilot license with minimum of 3,000 flight hours
  • Minimum of 1,500 hours combined experience on AS355 and AS350BA, B2, B3, B3e aircraft
  • Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Licence
  • Valid passport or ability to acquire
Knowledge and Skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian Air Regulations, with significant experience flying in Canadian remote and high-density airspace
  • Extensive precision vertical reference external load experience required
  • Experience conducting power line patrols, and knowledge of electrical distribution and transmission power maintenance and construction
  • Solid aviation knowledge base, including weather reporting, GPS, and electronic mapping navigational techniques
  • Comfortable working with modern electronic systems and document control
  • Well-developed communication, public relations, and documentation writing skills

Work Location Information
  • Based at the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport (CYLS) with assignments throughout Ontario
Salary and Benefits

Based on Level 1 Pilot salary of $155,000 per year, paid bi-weekly, plus benefits. Crew house provided and expenses covered when travelling.
