Position OverviewThis managerial role is essential in delivering strategic business assistance within the Integrated Water Services sector, collaborating closely with the General Manager. The position is responsible for defining and overseeing departmental strategic, business-oriented, and administrative functions in accordance with Corporate Administrative policies and systems.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and guidance in advancing departmental strategic initiatives, collaborating with IWS Senior Managers and the General Manager on data standards, strategic priorities, and performance reporting.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Corporate Services, to facilitate the development of departmental processes related to Records Management, ensuring compliance and training alignment with corporate standards.
- Lead and conduct departmental data analysis, focusing on data integrity and modeling to identify trends and propose enhancements.
- Manage the IWS Business Support Team, establishing departmental protocols with an emphasis on support and compliance.
- Research and analyze best practices to prepare gap analyses and actionable recommendations.
- Provide confidential, executive-level support to the General Manager.
- Oversee departmental Freedom of Information requests, ensuring adherence to corporate processes.
- Manage projects and processes with a focus on operational efficiencies.
- Supervise IWS tracking processes related to Commissions and Committees initiatives.
- Offer specialized administrative support to Commissions and Committees, ensuring accurate documentation of decisions and actions.
- Lead and manage personnel within the area of responsibility, addressing employment and labor relations matters, including hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 3 years of directly related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Valid BC Driver's Licence
Essential Skills and Abilities- Proven experience working with senior management and Board representatives.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster effective working relationships across various stakeholders.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
- Capacity to manage multiple requests from various program areas to meet objectives.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to analyze information and report findings.
- Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities.
- Proficient in problem-solving complex situations as they arise.
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Power BI.
- Knowledge of the Local Government Act and relevant legislation.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Advanced customer service skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
