Position: Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

In this role, you will collaborate closely with our veterinarians and support staff to provide exceptional care and comfort to our patients. Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute morning opening tasks and initial patient intake procedures.
  • Administer intravenous catheters, fluid therapy, and prepare medications in accordance with VCA protocols.
  • Work alongside Anesthesiologists to formulate anesthesia plans and protocols.
  • Monitor vital signs, review medical records, and coordinate necessary treatments for in-patients.
  • Oversee medical and post-operative cases, providing required treatments, including incision care and post-operative procedures.
  • Prepare for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment is set up and anesthesia machines are functional.
  • Assist during surgical procedures and post-operative care, including administering injections and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Conduct diagnostic imaging and manage bloodwork, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid analyses.
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation, including admission sheets, ICU records, treatment logs, and anesthesia records.
  • Coordinate patient discharges with veterinarians, ensuring readiness and clear discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate with Veterinary Assistants to prepare patients for discharge and conduct follow-up appointments.
  • Provide comprehensive patient care, including feeding, walking, and maintaining a clean environment.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, manage in-house supplies, and complete assigned technician tasks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Veterinary Technician program.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary technician role.
  • Outstanding client service skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency and high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative team player.
  • Proactive, capable of working independently and making informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated accountability, reliability, and sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while consistently delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Commitment to professionalism and confidentiality.

Working Environment:

  • General working conditions may involve standing or crouching for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand for long durations during surgical or imaging procedures.
  • May require lifting up to 15 kg independently and supporting up to 50 kg with assistance.
  • Team members may encounter exposure to radiation, biohazardous materials, chemical hazards, and potentially fractious patients.
