POSITION SUMMARY
The Corporate Partnerships team at the Canadian Cancer Society plays a vital role in the seamless onboarding, management, and execution of partnerships with select leading corporations in Canada. This revenue-generating department focuses on collaborating with top companies that align with our vision to achieve world-class outcomes in cancer prevention, treatment, and support through sponsorships, cause marketing, and employee engagement.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships, the Manager, Corporate Partnerships will be responsible for executing, maintaining, and expanding a diverse portfolio of corporate partners while mentoring and coaching at least one direct report.
The ideal candidate is adept at building and sustaining relationships and is eager to identify opportunities for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) to enhance its corporate revenue base. With extensive knowledge of the corporate landscape, the Manager, Corporate Partnerships will collaborate with teams nationwide to develop innovative and mutually beneficial partnership strategies that mobilize our internal and external communities in accessible, engaging, and effective ways.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Revenue and Relationship Management
- Enhance commitments from corporate partners through exceptional relationship management, comprehensive partner knowledge, and proactive communication of meaningful CCS updates and opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager to develop and implement effective partner growth strategies to meet assigned revenue targets.
- Engage and increase the value of existing corporate partnerships:
- Manage current corporate partnerships and relationships.
- Assist in the renewal of contracts and boost engagement with existing partners.
- Support the implementation of select mid-sized partnerships.
- Ensure exemplary onboarding and stewardship for all corporate partners.
- Work collaboratively with Relationship Managers and other internal stakeholders to build and execute local, regional, and national corporate opportunities.
- Oversee the management and execution of corporate partner programs, ensuring proactive cultivation and stewardship of key partner relationships.
- Stay informed on industry trends that impact partners within the portfolio.
2. Support for Corporate Partnerships New Business Development
- Review partners in the portfolio to identify new channel opportunities and present recommendations to the Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships.
- Assist in the prospecting efforts led by the Senior Manager of New Business Development, Corporate Partnerships.
3. Leadership and Team Development
- Provide strategic direction and supervision to direct reports, ensuring coordinated efforts to maximize success.
- Support team members with growth opportunities and provide solutions to mitigate risks.
- Contribute to a team environment that fosters solution-focused behavior, innovation, and high performance.
- Ensure team members are supported and adhere to processes, including regular one-on-one check-ins to discuss portfolio opportunities.
- Establish partner growth plans for your team’s portfolios, including clear KPI monitoring to proactively assess impacts on revenue targets.
- Inspire confidence and high performance in others while recognizing achievements; coach individuals and conduct performance reviews in line with team processes.
- In collaboration with team leadership, hire, orient, and manage team members through effective coaching, performance management, recognition, and development.
4. Contribute to a Strong Corporate Partnerships and CCS Team
- Adhere to guidelines established by national leadership, including Marketing, Communications, Digital Support, Finance, Team People, IT, and others.
- Maintain relationship data for partners in the CRM database (Salesforce).
- Foster a working environment that highlights the talents and strengths of each team member, celebrating successes.
- Ensure inclusive hiring practices.
- Encourage growth and development opportunities for all team members.
- Champion CCS as a leader in the fight against cancer.
- Actively contribute to our culture of justice, belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring all staff feel represented and heard.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in a related field with a minimum of four (4) years of demonstrated success in marketing, business development, and/or corporate fundraising roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven success in managing partnerships or gifts exceeding $50,000.
- Experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring teams with a solutions-focused management style.
- Expertise in developing and executing various types of corporate partnerships, including cause marketing, sponsorship, employee engagement, and gift-in-kind.
- Ability to identify growth opportunities, execute moves management, and adjust planning for success.
- Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, with persuasive communication abilities.
- Proven capability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.
- Experience in building successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with CRM systems; knowledge of Salesforce is an asset.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Willingness to travel within Canada and possess a valid Driver's License.
- Ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
- Flexibility to occasionally work outside regular office hours.
