About Talent Payment Services
As the oldest and largest payment provider for performers in Canada, Talent Payment Services (TPS) is comprised of a team of experts dedicated to guiding clients through the intricacies of the Canadian talent payment landscape. Since joining The TEAM Companies (TTC) in 2012, TPS has worked closely with advertising and production companies across Canada and beyond, ensuring a seamless payment experience for commercial productions. Position Overview
The Business Affairs division at TTC operates in a dynamic environment, delivering support for both union and non-union talent business affairs, as well as production business management, traffic, and network clearance services. We collaborate with advertising agencies, media firms, in-house teams, PR agencies, production companies, and other creative partners. This role serves as a vital link between TTC's signatory companies and clients requiring signatory assistance. Candidates should possess extensive experience in broadcast business affairs and talent payments, alongside a comprehensive understanding of ACTRA, UDA, SAG-AFTRA, and AFM/CFM agreements and labor laws relevant to the advertising sector. Proficiency in Excel, strong communication skills, and the ability to engage with diverse clients and personalities are essential.

Client Management Responsibilities

  • Oversee clients' union or non-union talent-related business operations, including talent estimating, reporting, and actualizing based on a solid understanding of relevant agreements and local labor laws.
  • Manage the lifecycle of jobs, including opening, tracking, reconciling, and closing.
  • Estimate session usage and requirements.
  • Generate necessary documentation, including casting specifications, talent contracts, production reports, and completion reports.
  • Review internal asset databases for accuracy and liaise with clients regarding any missing information or expirations.
  • Evaluate and resolve union claims effectively.
  • Ensure all client and union deadlines are met.
  • Consult with clients on talent jobs, union regulations, labor laws, and best practices.
  • Negotiate scale and overscale contracts.
  • Manage rights and permissions as requested by clients.
  • Proactively handle all account transition documentation.
  • Provide ongoing training to clients regarding business affairs and talent payment processes.
  • Assist with immediate departmental needs as required.
  • Maintain availability for client inquiries and follow-ups.
  • Stay informed about industry trends.

Staff/Internal Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot challenges and share insights for optimal client solutions.
  • Guide and assist on significant projects within the area of expertise.
  • Maintain organized and accurate talent and commercial files.

New Business Responsibilities

  • Foster client retention through proactive problem-solving and responsive service.
  • Explore opportunities to expand client business into other areas of expertise.
  • Participate in new business meetings as necessary.
  • Assist in developing leads and researching potential clients.

Qualifications

  • Experience with U.S. and Canadian performer unions.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in advertising or entertainment talent payroll.
  • University-level business education or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Advertising Talent Agreements and U.S. commercial union agreements.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; bilingualism is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients and colleagues.
  • Positive attitude and exceptional client service skills.
  • Professional interaction with team members and management.
  • Strong PC skills and a willingness to learn new applications.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is based on various factors, including experience, qualifications, and geographic cost of labor. The compensation range for this position is $65,000—$75,000 CAD. Cast & Crew offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, PTO, wellness programs, and employee discounts. Note: Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
