About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Culinary Specialist to join our team at Big City Gourmet Catering. As a key member of our kitchen operations, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals and individual dishes, as well as ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook complete meals and individual dishes, including special meals for patients as instructed by a dietitian or chef.
  • Food Safety and Quality: Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain the highest standards of food quality.
  • Team Leadership: Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food, and supervise kitchen staff and helpers to ensure efficient and effective kitchen operations.
  • Inventory Management: Order supplies and equipment, and maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Clean kitchen and work areas, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Work Environment

As a Culinary Specialist at Big City Gourmet Catering, you will work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results. You will be required to work independently and as part of a team, and to maintain a high level of flexibility and adaptability in response to changing circumstances.

Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma is required for this role.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Work Setting: This role is based in a catering firm.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure, and to maintain a high level of physical fitness and stamina.
  • Personal Suitability: You will be required to demonstrate dependability, flexibility, organization, reliability, and a team player attitude.
