About the Opportunity:
The University of Alberta Hospital is a leading clinical, research, and teaching hospital, treating over 700,000 patients annually. This position is part of the centralized Rehabilitation and Allied Health Program, supporting patients in the Critical Care team, General Systems ICU, and Burns service area. Job Summary:
As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide evidence-informed services, focusing on occupational performance to meet individual, group, or community needs. You will engage clients, families, and healthcare teams to enable meaningful occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure. You will support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence, considering their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with clients and families to determine, implement, and evaluate rehabilitation plans.
- Participate in interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support, and engage in quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to quality improvement and professional community, participating in peer mentoring and supervising students.
Requirements:
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
- Registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in critical care, grafts, and wound care.
- Experience in trauma care, splinting, and pressure injury management.
- Recent acute care experience in adults.
