Your Opportunity:

The Allied Health & Patient Experience team at Alberta Hospital Edmonton is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to support individuals with mental health and addictions concerns. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide therapeutic interventions to improve patients' abilities to perform daily activities.

Description:

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide evidence-informed services, focusing on occupational performance to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or communities. You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure. Your role will involve supporting clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate physical, cognitive, social, and sensory needs
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans that address patient goals
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve patients' abilities to perform daily activities
  • Support patients in managing mental health and addiction challenges within their physical, cultural, and social environments
  • Co-facilitate centralized programs that target specific care needs
Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program
  • Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)
Additional Required Qualifications:
  • ACOT registration eligibility
  • Current Heart & Stroke Foundation Basic Life Skills (BLS)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification and experience in therapeutic interventions, including effective de-escalation techniques, CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the assessment and treatment of individuals with mental health concerns/diagnoses
