Strategic Planning Manager

As a key member of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) team, the successful candidate will provide strategic planning support to senior executives, driving the organization's strategic direction and operational planning. This role will involve developing options and advice to inform senior management decisions, managing the annual corporate planning process, and preparing progress reports to evaluate strategic and corporate business plans.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct environmental scans to identify trends and best practices, providing strategic information and analysis to senior executives and the Board of Directors.
- Prepare briefings and presentations to inform senior management decision-making, including options and recommendations based on government announcements, research results, and industry trends.
- Manage research assignments to identify and assess impacts on the WSIB's strategic direction and performance.
- Build and maintain a network of internal and external experts to support strategic planning activities.
- Support clusters with business planning and aligning plans to corporate objectives.
- Manage the annual corporate strategic planning process, including supporting the Board and Executive Management with strategic planning activities and sessions.
- Evaluate WSIB plans, progress, and performance against strategic objectives and key benchmarks.
- University degree in public policy and administration, business, law, or economics minimum.
- Masters degree or BA with a specialist focus preferred.
- Formal project management training or related experience.
- Advance level of experience with Microsoft Office products.
- 5 years progressive experience in strategic planning, managing stakeholders, or WSIB business or policy experience with demonstrated ability to identify issues, understand the impact on WSIB objectives, and assessing the implications involved in making changes.
- 3 years of experience leading research and analysis and/or planning.
- Knowledge and experience with strategic planning models, methods, and best practices.
- Proven experience using analytical and problem-solving techniques and methodologies.
- Proven track record of successfully negotiating corporate changes.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
- Political acumen and diplomacy.
