Job Summary:

The University of Saskatchewan's Department of Psychology and Health Studies is seeking a Research Assistant to join the Language, Culture, and Identity Lab. As a Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in manually coding news articles for a specific form of linguistic bias.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and quantitatively code news articles, selecting relevant text and determining the valence of excerpts and the level of abstraction.
  • Populate and maintain a spreadsheet with coding results and any notes with updates, questions, or concerns.
  • Work independently with a flexible schedule and remote working environment.

Requirements:

  • Social Sciences Undergraduate Student, preferably in the third or fourth year of their degree.
  • TCPS2 CORE Certificate is an asset.
  • Exposure to social science research through undergraduate research courses is an asset.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Interest in language and bias research.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
