Position Overview:

The Salvation Army London Village has been a prominent provider of care services for over six decades. Nestled within expansive green surroundings, the London Village offers a variety of programs aimed at supporting families, including a Child Care Centre, Respite Programs, and Adult Day Programs. The facility is equipped with amenities such as a gym, pool, pavilion, and playground, creating an enjoyable environment for all. We invite you to join our team at the Child Care Centre, where the learning and well-being of children are our top priorities. We are currently in search of a committed individual to assume the role of Permanent Full-Time Cook.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Services:

  • Prepare and manage food orders while keeping an inventory of required supplies.
  • Receive, store, and organize food supplies effectively.
  • Plan and serve nutritious meals and snacks tailored to dietary needs.
  • Accommodate various dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Minimize food waste and utilize resources efficiently.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a permanent full-time position requiring 35 hours of work per week.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet program demands.
  • Physical ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Engagement in various physical tasks, including heavy lifting, bending, and reaching.
  • Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Qualifications and Educational Background:

  • Completion of Secondary School and possession of Cook's certification.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification, along with Safe Food Handling Certification.
  • Health assessment and immunization documentation are required.

Experience and Expertise:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in institutional cooking is required.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Willingness to undergo necessary screenings and background checks.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
