Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Credit Risk Underwriting Strategist to join our Commercial Business Risk team. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of our top merchants, providing tailored credit risk recommendations, and helping to manage our portfolio of commercial businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the business models and financial statements of our top merchants to assess their creditworthiness.
  • Provide credit risk recommendations to mitigate Stripe's exposure while facilitating partner company growth.
  • Develop a deep understanding of risk across industries, geographies, and operating models to inform our credit risk decisions.
  • Deliver insights to support key business decisions, including onboarding strategies, pricing analysis, and product launches.
  • Help drive a risk-centric approach to innovating Stripe's products and infrastructure.
  • Refine tools and processes to help the group deliver on key performance indicators.
  • Work with internal and external partners to support entrepreneurs around the world.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in commercial credit underwriting, financial risk modeling, and cash flow forecasting.
  • The ability to transform business and financial data into a cohesive narrative that outlines potential credit risks and presents dynamic mitigation strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and comfort with evaluating financial statements and business models across a range of industries.
  • Superb written, verbal, and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail while managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to comfortably interact with the CFOs and CEOs of our top merchants.
  • Deep empathy for entrepreneurs running a business, and are motivated to solve problems to empower them.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or other quantitative field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong technical expertise, including SQL, Excel, and Google Sheets.

Hybrid Work at Stripe

This role is available either in an office or a remote location. We offer a flexible work arrangement that allows you to balance in-person collaboration and learning with the flexibility to work from home.

Pay and Benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $138,800 - $208,300. Additional benefits may include equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses, 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and wellness stipends.
