About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pastry Chef to join our team at Hôtel Place d'Armes. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for creating exquisite pastries, desserts, and other sweet treats that exceed our guests' expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preliminary Preparation: Prepare ingredients according to established recipes, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.
  • Dessert Creation: Prepare a variety of baked desserts, spoon desserts, chocolates, confections, cookies, and savory pastries.
  • Team Support: Support the chefs de partie by optimizing the mise en place to ensure efficient and high-quality kitchen service.
  • Inventory Management: Participate in stock management and ingredient procurement.
  • Training and Development: Train and supervise apprentices and junior team members.
  • Cleanliness and Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and work instruments.
  • Quality Control: Follow recipes and instructions to guarantee consistent product quality.
  • Innovation: Innovate and propose new recipes and creations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth service.
Requirements
  • Education: Vocational diploma (DEP) in Pastry or 2-3 years of experience in kitchens, primarily in hotel establishments.
  • Certifications: MAPAQ Hygiene and Sanitation Certificate.
  • Language: Strong ability to work in a team and ensure smooth communication, with proficiency in French and English for communication with international suppliers.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills, fostering team development and motivation.
  • Stress Management: Excellent stress management, ability to work calmly and maintain high performance in busy periods.
  • Organizational Skills: Developed organizational skills for efficient work and meeting deadlines.
  • Availability: Energy, endurance, and availability for a demanding role, with flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Service Standards: Maintaining exemplary service standards while managing high guest volumes.
  • Attitude: Passion, energy, and professionalism with a positive attitude and contagious enthusiasm.
