We are seeking a passionate and experienced Pastry Chef to join our dynamic team. You will be responsible for the preliminary preparation of ingredients according to established recipes, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained. Your role will also involve preparing a variety of baked desserts, spoon desserts, chocolates, confections, cookies, and savory pastries. You will support the chefs de partie by optimizing the mise en place to ensure efficient and high-quality kitchen service.

WHAT'LL YOU DO

  • Prepare baked desserts such as cakes, pastries, and croissants.
  • Make spoon desserts such as creams, flans, ice creams, and sorbets.
  • Create chocolates and other confections.
  • Prepare cookies and savory pastries.
  • Decorate cakes and desserts.
  • Manage the pastry lab activity independently and efficiently.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and work instruments.
  • Follow recipes and instructions to guarantee consistent product quality.
  • Innovate and propose new recipes and creations.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth service.
  • Participate in stock management and ingredient procurement.
  • Train and supervise apprentices and junior team members.
  • Actively participate in maintaining cleanliness of workspaces, including food preparation and storage areas, strictly adhering to hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Take pride and responsibility for each dish prepared, significantly contributing to enhancing the overall quality of dishes served.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Vocational diploma (DEP) in Pastry or 2-3 years of experience in kitchens, primarily in hotel establishments.
  • MAPAQ Hygiene and Sanitation Certificate
  • Strong ability to work in a team and ensure smooth communication, with proficiency in French and English for communication with international suppliers.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, fostering team development and motivation.
  • Excellent stress management, ability to work calmly and maintain high performance in busy periods.
  • Developed organizational skills for efficient work and meeting deadlines.
