About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health Services Manager to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to multi-disciplinary teams within a patient-centred, Collaborative Practice Model for patient care units within Nova Scotia Health (Central Zone).

Working collaboratively and consultatively with patients/clients, families, management, staff, physicians, community partners, and service providers, you will apply strategic and analytical thinking to address challenges and achieve the ultimate goal of high-quality, safe and cost-effective services to better support patient experience/outcome.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in healthcare leadership, with a proven track record of success in program planning, evaluation, human resources and financial management. You will be a strategic thinker, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a unionized environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction for VG 9A Surgical Gastroenterology/General Surgery inpatient unit & NSWOC Team (Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence) to ensure the goals and objectives are continually met
  • Promote and emphasize people-centered care in partnership with the patient, family, and healthcare team
  • Develop, implement and maintain an active human resource plan including recruitment, selection, interviewing, and hiring
  • Prepare and analyze all relevant financial and clinical data, reports trends and identifies where corrective action is required for budget variances, implements changes as required, and evaluates the effectiveness of the changes
  • Establish and maintain creative and efficient communication processes across clinical teams, geographically different sites, other disciplines, and other stakeholders within NSH as required
  • Manage process improvements for quality patient care and enhancing capacity
  • Represent their discipline or service/program by active and effective participation in meetings and on committees
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership that supports service delivery excellence and collaboration with other program areas
  • Monitor clinical service delivery on a day-to-day basis to ensure service provision is following Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and is compliant with evidence-based practice, provincial standards and accreditation requirements
