Your Opportunity:
Under the general oversight of the Supervisor, Data Collection/HIRM, this role entails the precise and efficient coding and abstraction of clinical and demographic information from electronic records related to inpatient and/or outpatient care. This position is primarily on-site and may be assigned to various facilities within the province based on availability.
Position Overview:
As a Health Information Management Professional I, your responsibilities will include coding and abstracting data from clinical documentation, managing the release of information, and ensuring data quality assurance. In alignment with AHS protocols and the Health Information Act, you will be tasked with gathering, retrieving, collating, coding, designing, analyzing, and interpreting clinical and demographic data. Additionally, you will conduct statistical reporting and regular reviews of data quality for patient records.
Required Qualifications:A diploma from an accredited Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) program is required. You must be actively registered or eligible for registration with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA).
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:The ability to maintain focus and sit for prolonged periods is essential. Strong communication skills with physicians and staff are necessary. A proven record of excellent attendance, reliability, and personal suitability must be validated through your employment references.
