Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Nursing and Interprofessional Practice to join our team at Providence Health Care. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and expert advice on nursing professional practice matters, promoting a safe, respectful, and civil working environment, and supporting the delivery of quality practice environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and expert advice on nursing professional practice matters, including scope of practice, skill mix, and care delivery approaches.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve clinical and professional growth, optimize professional practice priorities, and foster sustainability.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of quality improvement initiatives related to nursing professional practice and interprofessional practice.
  • Collaborate with leaders responsible for clinical and support programs to achieve a coordinated and integrated approach to strategic planning and change management.
  • Provide leadership and liaison function with academic partners to enhance knowledge sharing and develop networks that support the organization's goals.
  • Develop and sustain discipline-specific and interprofessional professional practice communities across the organization.
  • Assess the impact of changes in systems and technology on nursing and prioritize requests for changes and improvements in the organization's clinical information systems and solutions.
  • Ensure review and final approval process of all new product requests related to nursing professional practice.
  • Address nursing professional practice issues, foster collaboration and problem-solving between program and professional staff, and negotiate for effective resolution of issues.
  • Partner in organizational risk review processes with an expert lens of best practices, standards, policies, and regulation.
  • Lead, support, and maintain a human resources plan that aligns nursing/interprofessional practice goals and objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in nursing or a related field.
  • Seven to ten years of recent, related experience in a senior management or leadership position within a large, academic, healthcare environment.
  • Current practicing registration in good standing as a registered nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Strong program planning and development skills, including integration of evidence-based best practices.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to develop and execute strategy across large complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, set, and accomplish objectives and goals in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyze industry and professional literature.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize creativity and innovation to develop corporate strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop quality assessment systems/tools.
  • Demonstrated innovative leadership skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to foster a collaborative team approach to decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain partnerships locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and effective working relationships with interested parties/partners that promote cooperative goals and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
  • Ability to inspire a shared vision and align performance goals and objectives for team and individuals to ensure match with strategy while maintaining group cohesiveness, motivation, commitment, and effectiveness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization, including advanced report presentation and writing skills.
